Maribaya - Bandung

Have you heard bout Maribaya? For me, this was the first time 【ツ】ƗƗє²² ƗƗє²² ƗƗє²²【ツ】 I've never went further than Lembang or Ciater, so few weekends ago, we decided to go to Maribaya. After I browsed thru the google and found out bout caves and waterfalls, I was quite ecstatic. For the waterfall anyway, not for the caves...I don't think my girls would feel excited to enter a cave, not to mention the chance to meet the bats 【ツ】ƗƗє²² ƗƗє²² ƗƗє²²【ツ】 .
The waterfall

We went there after our lunch @Burgundy. It was about 5mins of drive from Burgundy (left turn from Burgundy). If you are going from Bandung, choose Jln Raya Lembang then turn left to Dago Giri (right turn is to The Valley), then just follow the twisting road (about 30mins depending on the traffic). There are several entrance gates. The first one that we encountered was the closest to the caves (about 1mins driving from Burgundy). If you don't want to go to the caves, continue driving for less than 5mins. Then you will see the welcoming sign to Maribaya. That is the first gate to the waterfall. But we used the second gates (after crossing the bridge, about 250m from the first gate). They told us that the second gate is the nearest to the waterfall.

It is true, since we only need to walk thru steep pebble paths/stairs for 200m. There is another waterfall around 1.5km of walk, but we skipped it, since we couldn't go thru such distance with the girls. The entrance fee for the second gate is 12k (without formal ticket) and you still need to pay parking fee inside. While, for entering the waterfall site, you need to pay 8k per pax (inclusive Rp 500 for insurance).
The down-to-earth stalls

There are some stalls along the walking track, some are selling snacks and drinks, others are selling some goodies and souvenirs. We just walked for 50m...and I said to my husband that it would feel great if we can have indomie afterward (even though we just finished our lunch 【ツ】ƗƗє²² ƗƗє²² ƗƗє²²【ツ】 hiking sure is a calory burner activity). After 5mins of walking leisurely, we could hear the thundering sound of the waterfall. It sounds great...and I kept thinking how fun it would be...to let my girls play with the water for a while. They would Ŀ♡√Ɛ it. Picking up our pace and spirit (mind you...my untrained legs quickly gave away after few meters of hiking), we quickly rush to the site only to find a total disappointment...Booooo!
The strong current of the river

The whole area was surrounded by 2m thin iron gate/bar (which was corroted). So forget the idea to play with the water...forget bout how nice it would be to dip my tired feet into the cold water...since we could only see the waterfall from the distance ( →_→)ジロ! Hüђђђ. We even couldn't find a small puddle of water there, except some cold water sprinkled to us when there was wind blowing.
A strange looking rock

Anyway, the waterfall is good (if you don't mind seeing it thru bars of iron). The mountain and forrest around it are awesome too (if you appreciate the greenary). The good point is, at least, I managed to turn and use up all calory eaten during the lunch *grinning*
