Get lost...and enjoy \(^ . ^)/

Darn! We were lost! That was my first thought after speeding for more than 3hours and we were in the middle of nowhere. Our GPS showed blank area with a single pointer, identifying our car. Geez…even GPS didn’t recognize this place. I saw no sign of road, no other car, no gas station, no house, zilch…neither on our GPS nor our surrounding at that time…unless shrub, field and more trees. My stomach was growling…hungry…since it was an hour past our normal lunch hour, we felt quite desperate while munching some crackers that I put on the car for emergency (praise God for the life-saving-crackers yay). The girls were still chatting happily while playing on their tabs, blissfully unaware that we were lost. To top our desperation, all 3 different GSM providers that we used had no signal at all. So we couldn’t browse our way on Google or simply making a phone call. Stayed optimism (ok, lets face the fact – even when we were lost – we would still be on Java island), my husband kept driving on the single road. Surely it would lead to somewhere, wouldn’t it?

Getting lost while we were travelling like this isn’t the first time for us. We proudly called ourselves as traveller, meaning we never join the package tour with a tour guide that explain and drive us to our destination (no fun at all ha ha ha we would rather explore the place by ourselves). I recalled our first trip to HK years back, when we arrived just slightly before midnight and suddenly the adventurous side of my hubby bobbed up. He suddenly dragged us to the bus station right in front of the airport and were busy asking for direction before running, catching a bus (imagine…2adults with 2 toddlers in tow and 2 big suitcases). But since we didn’t speak Cantonese and I speak very basic mandarin (I only remember around 50words and it was hard to make up full sentences using those 50words LOL), suddenly we found ourselves in Kowloon, another part of HK that never sleep (another lucky thing – imagine if the town was asleep…must be pretty spooky). That was one terrible experience (at that time), tired…sleepy…pulling the heavy suitcases while my girls were practically dragging their feet trying to find our hotel. But afterward, I really treasured those ‘getting lost’ feeling   (^.^)

There were times when we still stayed in Bali. We normally drive around Bali during weekend. So one day, we just kept driving until there was no road at all and had to go back. We hitched a bus when we were in Thailand for our honeymoon, and of course we got lost ha ha ha and we had to use taxi to find our way. We rent a car to explore the tiny yet beautiful Samui island (ok, since the island is quite small, so you wont get lost here). Not to mention when we were lost in China when even police officer walked away once we asked for the direction in English (T_T) poor us. But those experiences don’t deter us to be adventurous…actually we are kind of looking forward to get lost. It’s very memorable, for sure it will be one thing that you wont forget about your trip

Can you guess which destination will be covered on my next post?
Ehm…will we be having ‘getting lost’ moment on our next trip?
